GTA Online Players Unexpectedly Charged for Free Karin S95

After launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2022, the Enhanced edition of Grand Theft Auto 5 arrived on PC on March 4, 2025. This upgrade introduces a host of graphical improvements, including ray tracing features such as ambient occlusion, global illumination, ray-traced shadows and reflections, and more. However, despite these advancements, many players are facing unexpected issues, including being overcharged for what was meant to be a complimentary vehicle.

Upon upgrading to the Enhanced edition and completing the initial race for Hao’s Special Works, PC players are supposed to receive a free Karin S95 from Southern San Andreas Super Autos. While the car is listed at $0, multiple players have reported being charged close to 2,000,000 GTA$ upon attempting to claim it.

Reddit user RogueTaco posted a short video showing their account being deducted nearly 2,000,000 GTA$ despite the vehicle being marked as free. Other players quickly joined in to confirm similar experiences. Redditor Austinqueezy commented, "It just happened to me," while Enkrasia22 stated, "It took $1,995,000 from my account, although it was tagged as free."

Rockstar Responds with Refunds

Fortunately, Rockstar Games appears to be addressing the issue. Reddit user Everything_must_go2 shared an email from Rockstar Support confirming that the studio had refunded 2,000,000 GTA$ to affected players. While this is a relief for those impacted, it highlights the ongoing technical difficulties surrounding the PC launch of the Enhanced edition.

Removal of Text Chat Sparks Backlash

In addition to the Karin S95 issue, players have also discovered another significant change: the removal of text chat in Grand Theft Auto Online. Unlike the Legacy edition, the Enhanced edition currently lacks any form of text-based communication, leaving players unable to communicate in public lobbies unless they use a microphone.

It remains unclear whether the removal of text chat was intentional or an unintentional bug, but it has resulted in widespread frustration. Hundreds of negative reviews have flooded online forums, with many players expressing their disappointment over the loss of a crucial in-game feature.

Ongoing Issues with GTA Online Enhanced Edition on PC

While the Enhanced edition brings significant graphical improvements and optimizations to PC, these issues have marred the experience for many players. Rockstar has yet to officially acknowledge the missing text chat, but the swift response to the Karin S95 bug suggests that the company is actively working on fixes.

For now, PC players upgrading to the Enhanced edition should be cautious when claiming the Karin S95 and monitor Rockstar Support for further updates on refunds and potential fixes for missing features.
